AUCKLAND, April 8. Charged with keeping premises in 81iortlaiul 8treet as a common gamiug liouse, William John McCrea, aged 44, pleaded guiltv before Mr. ,T. H. Luxford, 8.M. Heuior-betective Trethewey stated that a rooni occupied by accused was searched last 8aturda.y. It was found that he was keeping it for the purposes of bookmaking. McCrea was sentenced to six weelts' imprisonment with hard labour.
