MANY NAZI REFUGEES STILL IN SPAIN
Received Sunday, 9.15 p.m. LONDON, April 7. The Allied authorities estimate • that there are still 10,000 to 12,000 Nazi le fugees in Spain, and fresh efforts are being made to root them out and return them to Germany, says the Daily Herald's Madrid correspondent. Thus far only about 1500 have returned, of whom about 80 were forced to leave by the Spanish authorities. Many of thQse still in the country are reported to be hiding, but the addresses of many others are known to Britigh and American repatriation officials who are at present working at the former German Bmbassy. The repatriation officials haye no power to compel their return, but have sternly summoned them to do so, poijit- = Lng out that their eventual return is only a question of time, and that each individual's future treatment in Germany will largely depend op. his response.
