WELLINGTON, April 4. The new eleetoral boundaries are not so alarining as they appeared in pros pect, and I think we can look forwnrd to the outeome with the greatest optimism,55 said the chairman of the Khandallah branch of the Nationa Party, NT r. G. II. A. Swan, at a luncheon meeting today. Mr. F. W. Doidge, AI.P. for Tauranga, , said he agreed that there was no need for. any great alarm. Ihie Commission, he said, had done its job exceedingly well, but nevertheless, there was not ; an electorate that had not been ■ cut to I pieces, particularly in the rural areas. Diseussing the Tauranga seat, Mr. J Doidge said that he would lose about ' 1000 votes, but he could still see, it i friends remained loyal, a majority ot | well o-ver 2000. j "We have lost the country quota and - in its place there has come into existj ence a eity quota to the extent 01 about 10 per eerit, 55 he said. "Nevertheless, we still hope to earry all the rural seats, and there is reason to believe that we can win manv eity seats in the coming elfections. That is not merely wishful thinking. The Dunedin byelection was really a triumph for us and indicated that the tide had turned. Hamilton was a glorious victory. 55 He added that he believed many people would say that the recent amendment to the eleetoral law was an attempt by the Government to hold on to office by Ioading the djce, and that they would register their disgust at tne ballot box.
