Labour Party Euchre . • v> . . The winners of the Labour Party euchre held in Laurvig's Hall on Friday * evening were Mrs. Thorne and Mr. Cowley. Clearing of Drains At a meeting of the Buckley Drainage Board held recently it was advised that the tenders had been jlet for the cleaning of the board's drains at 5s a chain. The successful tender was that of Mr. T. Pratt. Inter-Club Bowling • A challenge from a.rink of Foxton bowlers for the Huntley trophy, which is held by the Shannon Club, resulted in a very interesting game ;being played on the Shannon green on Saturday afternoon. Shannon were successful in defending the. trophy, ^nd the final : scores were : Shannon 22, Foxton 15. :,The teamg were as follows: — Foxtonr Manuel, Petersen, O'Riley and McMiilan (s) . Shannon: E. Hook, Bateman, Cronquest and E. Wilson (s). Footbail On. Saturday afternoon a junior team of Shannon footballers jourheyed to Foxton" to play a friendly match with a junioif tearh there. The local boys had an enjoyable afternoon's footbail, but the Foxton lads proved too goqd, and were successful in defeating 'Lhe visitors by 13 points to 3." The Shannon team was as- follows: T. Pratt, J. Pratt, D. Fuller, T. Spring, J. Rolston, F. Callesen, D. Bibby, M. Rohinson, M. Cowley, Roprohama,; H. Eilison, K. Woods/R; Palle'son an4 T^Spransp. Mr. Geqrge Woods was the referee. Winter Sports Winter sports bodies were busy oVer the week-end g^tting things in order for the coming season. On Sunday the footballers gathered at the domain and prepaEations are well in hand for the marking out of the piaying field and the erection of the goal posts. At the Buckley golf links a bahd of workers have been busy during the past week mowing the greens and getting the clubhouse in order, and on Sunday a number of golfers were out for a practice; round before the opening. On Sunday also a number of badminton members were busy at the Druids' Hall marking out the court, and generally. setting things in order for their opening* night on lilonday. The club intends holding a practice night during this week to give the visiting teams a better run on Monday, evening.
