PROSPECT OF MEAT STRIKE IN QUEENSLAND
BRISBANE, March 30. j Six thoitsand members of the Austra- j lian Meat Industry Employees' Union | have been called out on strike through | out Queensland, and as a result Brisbane will probably be without meat 1 next week. The strike followed the : failure of a compulsory conference betwee_n the meat industry board and the : union representatives. The strike issue is whether employers | are to continue to have the right to I "hire and fire." The Brishane ahat- j toirs, eight bacon factories, and 11 meat j works are involved. ; . . !
