LEVIN CLUB'S FIRST OUTING
ARAPAEPAE HILLS CLIMBED The first outing to be undertaken by the Levin— Waiopehu Tramping Ciub since it was revived after a recess occasioned by the war was held during the week-end to the Arapaepae Hills. Sixteen members assembled at the post office in the morning and proceeded by car to the Waiopehu Scenic Reserve. From there they tramped along Gladstone Road, climbed the hills and walked along the tops to above Queen Street, where a halt was called and the biily boiled for lunch. To the greater number it was their first such trip, and with clear visibility the splendid views obtafqed were some what surprising to them. An easy spur was followed back to the farmland below, and the party made its way back to the reserve, where the billy was again boiled and afternoon tea partaken of. Rain then commenced to fall, but it did not'dampen the ardour of the trampers', who arrived back in Levin very pleased with their outing. Mr. A. Coles was the leader.
