YOUNG MARGARET IMPROVES

A big improvement for Young Margaret was recorded at Awapuni last Saturday when she ran a creaitable second to Arco, beating a good field including some star sprinters. The four-year-old Phaleron Bay, a Haggada mare, showed some promise as a*liack and won three races before it >was known that she was ineligible for hack events. In open company she did not impress very much. She ran at Trentham and finished in the last four both days, but she has now drawn herself as a possible prospect for the Hawke's Bay meeting.
