AUSTRALIA'S EASY WIN

WELLINGTON, March 31. On a wieket wliieh was drying under a strong sun and a 'fresh northwesterly breeze, it took the Australian team a little over a day and a half to overwhelm the New Zealand eleven in the cricket Test match at the Basin Rese'rve by' the wide margin of an innings and 103 runs. Continuing their first innings on Saturday niorning, with three wickets down for 146, the Australians carried their score to 199 for eight wickets. As the wieket was tlien at its worst state, the Australian captain applied the closure. The New Zealand team, which had fallen for 42 in their first innings on Friday, again found the Australian bowlers too good for them and in 110 minutes were all out in their seeond knock for 54. All five Australian bowlers employed came out with flattering ligures, Toshack takiug two 'wickets for 0, Miller two for 6, and O 'Reilly three for 19. The attendanee on Saturday was a record for a "cricket match at the Basin Eeserve. The number who passed through the turnstiles was 14,850, but season ticket holders and special schooli boys tickets swelled the . crowd to j 16,000.
