The progyamme was much, enjoyed by all, and the performers are' to . be . congratulated on . their artistry . These • talen.ted yduhg ■ ladjies made a very^popular choice of 'i'tems which wefe:— VjocaJ;, Miss Guy: "Where 'er You Wialk,"; "Forgive me Genferous Victor," f'Discomforted Suitor," "Dear Love Thou art a Flower," "Oh Wbndrous Mystery of Love," "I Heard You Singing," "Love's a Merchant" and "If no One Ever Marries me." Piano, Miss Lang: "La fllle Aux Chevaux hui," "Golliwogs Cake ; . Walk," Fledermaus," "Romance," "Bird . of Paradise" and "EtuGe de Concert." The proceeds of this delightful recital were given in aid of, the Paraparaumu Women 's Ins^itute fund, and amounted tp approximately £7 10s. Both young ladies were r p'rbsented with delightful shoulder sprays and dainty ;bouqu.etp. . ' ' 1. • The Methodist Ladies' Guild. held a garden party at the'home of Mjs. Hawkes, Main Ro'aci, Paraparaurpu. There was a good actendance and a pieasi'ng arrdy bf goods soon found a ready sale. Competitions were a popular f orm of entertainmeht, Mrs. Wright and Miss Johnstone bpth winning the guessirig cpmpetition of the length of a piece of strihg. These ladies shared .ihe cakp, which was the- prize. " Qther winners of competitions . "were ' Mrs. Richardson and Mr. Hercock. Approximately £23 was added to the funds.-, As the result of the recent warm rains the paddocks are looking green and showing a marked growth in the grass.
