The Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Burdekin, have returned from a visit to Christchurch, where His Worship attended the Municipal Conference. The death occurred suddenly at Dunedin on Friday of Mr. Joseph Callil Sayegh, of Auckland. Mr. Sftyegh was making an overnigfit stay in Dunedin after attending the conference of the Justices of the Peace Association at Invercargill. After thirty years of service on - the lines staff, of the Levin Post Qffice, Mr. W- Ingram, a well-known Levin resjdent, retired on Friday. During the afternoon he was met by the staff and the opportunity was fcaken by the postmaster (Mr. L. AWhitham) and the overseer (Mr. AD. Brash) to refer to his long apd efiicient .service, and.to extend go,od wishes to him in his -retirement. Qn behalf of the staff, Mr. Brash presented Mr. Ipgrg,^ with an afternoon tea set as • a token of the esteem iri which he* was held. Mr. Ingram suitably acknowledged ihe gift and good wishes.
