WAIRARAPA MAORIS GATHER
CEREMONY MARRED BY RAIN MASTERTON, April 1. A gatfiering of Wairarapa Maoris was held at Te Ore Ore on Sunday, with tprrential - rain falling during most of the ceremony. The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) was present and expressed thanks to the Maoris for the success of the Maori war effort, and their contribution to victory. Addresses were given by Mr. Fraser, Mr. G. H. Mackley, M.P., Mr. W. Kemp, Mavor of Masterton, Colonel Ferris Rankin and Mr. E. Tirikatene, M.P., representatives of the Wairarapa tribes and Mr. L. Ewington, president of the Masterton Labour Representation Committee. The Labour Party and Government were thanked by several ofthe speakers for the work that had been done for the Maoris and.
