Most of the work had been devoted to "patriotic purposes, but with the cessationrof hostilities . the institute was now returning to its. former activities. The membership had substantially increased, and is now well over the hundred mark.- - ' The sewing and knitting . circle: had prepared artd dispatched over .500 garments for bv.erseas relief and had knitted 220 comforts for overseas' servicemen. Members had extended. hospitality to visiting' pverseas s'efvicernen- and were . • still ; tibihg so for w'eek-end leave, etc. . . ' " ' • . ! - The' drama circle secretary (Miss Hickson) read the drama report, showing the circle had b'eeh a Jive and active part of the institute during .the' year. It had gained two places at -the drama festival, entertained at several functions and taken a . concert party - to the Sanitorium at Ghristmas time. Mrs. -Eatwell, convener of the soldiers' parcels fiihd, submitted her report and balance-sheet. -Twenty parcels had been sent annually to members' husbands and sons serving overseas. ; , > Mrs.'Synnott vacafced the chair in favour of Mrs. Eggers for the elec_tion .of, offlcers. Results were as f olloWs : — President Mrs. Lumley; vice-presidents ; Me'sdames Percival and Empson; secretary: Mrs. Harrington; treasurer,: Mrs; Townrow; committee: Mesdam'es Adamson, Berry, Carter, Mould, Ralph, Robertson ' and Herbert and Miss Brown. Mrs. Eggers congratulated the institute on its high standard of interest and efficiency during the year, and then gave an enlightening address on the general rules and :regulations governing all women's institutes. She read an extract from the Home and Country journal concerning the A.C.W.W. , Mrs. Synnott presented Mrs. Eggers with a shoulder spray and thanked her for her interesting address. Competitions for the year were won by Mrs. Mould, with Mrs. Parsons second and Miss Brown third. A very dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hunter, Hull, and Hewitson and the singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
