ELECTRICIANS FEAR BAN ON INDIA RUBBER

The annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Electricians was asked by the New Zealand Gable Manufacturers' Association to register a protest at any attempt to have Ihe Government ban tlre importation of vuleanised india rubber in favour of a substitute, which is to be made in New Zealand. The president, Mr. E. E. Gilniore, was in the chair. It was decided to notify the appropriate Minister that the institute was concerned at the principle involved and that the matter be left in the hands of the council of the institute for action. The election of offieers resulted: President, Alr. R. H. Nairn (Palmerston North) ; vice-president, Mr. E. T. Salveson (Christchurch); council, Messrs J. Bou/.aid (Masterton), R. C.. Hands (Napier), B. R. Jack (Dunedin), H. L. Iveys (Wellington), L. G. Mahoney (Mangaweka), W. H. Potter (Auckland), W. Richards (Nelson), AR. W. Singleton (Wanganui).
