George Bprnard Shaw The Christchurch Drainage Board recentfy had before it a let'ter from George Bernard' Shaw. It was not, however, the famous play wright who was correspbnding with the board, but an einployee writing on a stan matter. Zuppicich) remarked that any homeserviceman with pension difficulties should take the opportunity of meeting Mr. Smith and discussing the matter with him. Hospital Rating Immediately t'ollowing the conference, the Counties' Association wanted the Municipal Associatuai to join it in a deputatioh to the Government to ask for relief from hpspital rating this year, saici the pr,esident (Mr. J. Extermination of Pests Soniething new in the orgapised extermination of pigs, deer and goats on rural propertips is being undertaken by the newly formed Wanganui Hunters' and' Stalkers' Club, which already has a large membership. The idea behind the club is to co-ordinate the work and sport of shooting .wild animals which do considerable damage tp larmlands. The club has already enlisted the support of tbe Waiigar: nui district branph of Federated Farmers and individual farmers, anfl is pianning a pampaig'n fpr the culling pf pig's, gpats, and .d.eer", especialjy' duripg the jambing season.
