WEDDING
HINDE— CAMPBELL
An evening wedding of much interest was celebrated at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Levin, on Saturday, February d3, when Edna Maud, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Campbell, of "Waima," Ohau, was married to Cpl. Sydney Hinde, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Hinde, of Miramar, Wellington. The Rev. G. B. Stofe-Blandy ofRciated and Mr. J. W. Hayfield played the wedding music. The church was tastefully decorated by Mrs. J. Stewart, a friend of the bride, in" tones of pink, blue and white. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a graceful gown of white stiffened lace, with V-Shaped neckline and slim-fitting bodice, scalloped with a narrow frill on to j the trained skirt. Her beautiful I embroidered veil, given to her by her godmother, Mrs. K. Smith, of Nelson, was held in place by a halo of orange blossom and fell to form a second train. Her bouquet was of ; cream roses, gladioli and maiden-! hair fern, and she wore a gold watch, the gift of the bridegroom. I Attending the bride were three bridesmaids, Miss Dawn Campbell (chief) sister, Miss Joy Maskelyne, ■ cousin, and Miss Peggy Speedy, friend of the bride. They were : dressed alike in charming frocks of dusky pink uncrushable french crepe, fitting bodices with ruched three-quarter length sleeves and full skirts. -Their bouquets were composed of blue delphiniums, pink carnations and red roses, with matching flowers in their hair. 1 They each wore a paua shell brace- ! let, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by Cpl. J. MacDonald, of Wellington, as best man, and Sgt. W. Merton, of Wellington, and L.A.C. L. Watson, of Christchurch, as groomsmen. All served overseas with the bridegroom. The ushers were the brothers of the bride, Messrs. Ian and Donald Campbell and Mr. S. Lancaster and Mr. J. Stewart, of Levin. A friend of the bride, Mrs. S. Ridge, sang "O Perfect Love" during the signing of the register. Over 100 guests were later enter- j tained at Willi&ms' reception rooms, J where they were received by Mr. I and Mrs. Campbell, assisted by Mr. ; and Mrs. Hinde. The bride's mother ; wore a gold-threaded maroon lace frock, with matching hat and car- j ried a posy of rosesa and maiden- j hair fern. The bridegroom's mother j was attired. in a naily frock, with ; hat to tone and a posy of red roses. The bride's grandmothers, Mrs. W. Lett, of Levin, and Mrs. E. Camp- I bell, of Palmerston North, both 1 chose black ensembles and carried posies. The three-tiered wedding ; cake was made by Mrs. W- Clark, | aunt, and the bride's motlier. while ; the tables had been- artistically-; decorated by an aufit, Mrs. E. W. j Clark and Miss Bevan, cousin. All ; the toasts were enthusiastically re- ; ceived and given hiusical honours, . Mrs. John MacDonald acting as ! pianist. j After the reception the guests were enter tained by the parents of j the bride at the home of Mr. andj Mrs. Lett, where the presents were, viewed. The happy couple left by car, the ' bride wearing a blue Harris tweed check suit and coat, with navy hat and aecessories. The honeymoon was spent in the South Island and their future home will be in Wellington.
