«*» Mr. Fiorello LaGuardia, the former Mayor of New York, has been nominated as' Directof-Gen-eral of UNRRA, in succession t6 Mr. Herbert H. Lehman. i Cabled advice has been receiyed that the Canadian Prirte Mihister; Mr. MacKehzie King, has annouriced that the new Governor-General of Canada, Viscouht Alexander, will arrive at Halifax on April 4 aboard the Acquitania. The appointment of a chief engineer to the Auckland Gas C6rhpany, Ltd., was announced by the chairman of directors, Mr. V. J. Larner, at the anntml meetihg of the company. The engineet appoint'ed is Mr. C. J. Dougherty. 6f Yorkshire. Mr. Doughbrty relinquishes the position 'of engineer to the York and adjacent group pf gas undertakings.
