WELLINGTON, March 24. A crowd of 12,000 at the Basin Jteserve 011 Baturday saw the Australian rricketers increase their fir^t innings score against Wellington from 158 for four wickets to 415 all ont, at 4.25 p.m. The inuings lasted 420 minutes. Buchaiij Downes, Ilateh and Lamason bowled so steadily that the Australian batsmen, with the exception of Hassett, who scored a brilliatit century, were kept subdued. Wellington, when an appeal against the light vvas upheld at 5.35 p.m., had scored 27 runs without loss in their seeond inuings. Wellington now require 204 to avert an innings defeat, with all their wickets in hand. The attendance vvas 10,589 and £1026 ivns taken at the gates. This does not iticlude season ticket liolders or special cickets for scliool children.
