TAURANGA, March 24. The Bay of Plenty Ra'eing Club's autumn meeting was opened in fine weather. The track was in good order, and there was an excellent attendance. The- totalisator turnover was £45,078 10s, a deerease of £15,631 on last year when the meeting was held at Paeroa. In the handicap hurdles J. H. Hedley 's Persisto, broke a fetloek when he fell at one of the fences apd was destroyed. The rider, G. Smith, was admitted to hospital suffering concussion. E. Coe, rider of Betty Baffles, which fell in the same race, was also admitted to hospital. A protest was lo'dged against Land Warden which dead heated with Tiltiag in the President 's Hack Handicap, but the judge 's placings were allowed to stand.
