Big Sensation at Bulls
BULLS, This Day. j The usual cairn of Bulls town- ; ship was disturbed about 1 p.m. ■ to-day with a sensational armed hold-up of the Bank of : New Zealand. As far as could be ascertain- \ ed when this edition went to press, two youths drew up out- : side the bank about 1 p.m. | Masked and armed they entered the premises. The teller, Mr. K. Allen, who was the only ■ member of the bank staff on the premises at the time, was hit over the head with a baton, while a Parewanui farmer, Mr. D. W. Wilson, who was there attemding to business was pcwerless to interfere. The two youths gathered up some bags of money, dashed oui to their car, which it is believed had no number plates, and made off in the direction of Palmerston North. The manager of the bank, Mr. T orrence, returned to the premises during the hold-up. Two shots were fired, but it is understood that nobody sufferied serious injury. It was markei day in Bulls to-day, and with an unusually ' large number of people in the town the hold-up was a particularly daring one.
