SHANNON BADMINTON CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual general meeting of the Shannon Badminton Club was held on Wednesday evening when Mr. V. E. Tippler presided , over a large gathering of old players. The secretary (Mr. D. Gyde) read the minutes of the 1942 meeting, which was the year the club werit into recess for the war year^. The balance sheet showed a small profit. It was resolved to re-open the club and the following officers were elected for the coming year:-— President; Mr. L. Burling; . yicepresident: Mr. A. S. Hyde; secretary: Mr. D. Gyde; treasurer: Mi\ T. S. Downes; trustees; Messrs. Gyde and Downes; committee: Mesdames Gyde, Hyde and Pope, Miss Forbes and Messrs. V. Tippler, D. Gyde, A. S. Hyde, L. Burling, K. Thompson and T. S. Downes. It was decided to open the club on the night of Monday, April 8, in the Druids' Hall, when members of neighbouring clubs would be invited. Mr. A. S. Hyde advised that a continuous supply of shuttles would be forthcoming throughout the season. It was decided to purchase new ' equipment, including two rackets and have two of ■ the older ones re-strung. It was agreed to j play on Monday and Thursday nights of each week.
