WELLINGTON, March 21. Supplics of drauglit becr in a number of Wellington hotcls have been completelv exhausted on several occasions I recently, and all that the licensees liavo been able to offer is bottled beer. One leading liotel which has sold all its drauglit beer stocks by Friday night for the last four weeks, fears that it will be faced with a similar position this week. The shortage has also affeeted those who have riggers and other containers filled for home consumption, as it has not been possible for many publicans to fib any containers for some tinie. The reasons for the shortage are several, but the most important appears to he the diffieulty in obtalning shipping to transport stocks from the south, particularly Dunedin, to Wellington. Much of the shipping normally available is at present being used to carry fodder for stock in the areas which suffered from drought in the Nortli Island recently. As most bottled beer consumcd in Wellington is brewed in the North Island, sufficient supplies are available.
