AUCKLAND, March 20. The inquest was concluded by the Coroner, Mr. A. Addison, concerning the death of Hugh Marston Close, a pensioner, who died in Auckland Hos pital on February 13 from burns re ceived when a lire broke out in his bedrooni in a boarding-house in Hobson Street on the night of February 12. Mary Franees Senne, proprietress of the boarding-house, said she had known deeeased for 30 ypars and he had livred at her premises for aliout six months. He was a heavy pipe-smoker and often smolced in bed. On several occasions the bedclothes liad been bnrned and she had spolcen to him about it. She thought it was possible he had fallen asleep with his pipe in his niouth. A verdict was returned that deeeased died from shoelc following burns sus tained at Hobson Street when a lire occurred in his bedroom.9
