AWAPUNI TRACK IN SPLENDID ORDER
JUA1PERS SCHOOL WELL The Awapuni tracks have derived great beneiit froiu the recent rain, aud yesterday niorning the going was in spleudid order. Providing the weather venniins reasonably fine conditions should be ideal for racing on Baturday. Although iiiany visitiug horses liave put in au appearauce, trainers were content to let tlieir cliarges off with light work yesterday. Two candidates for the Karere Hurdles, Peacli King (Andrews) aud Bpoar Light (Preda Whitej, were seen out in a scliooling bout ovor eight hurdles. Both accomplislied their task in good style, particularly the iatter who got away froiu her fences very sniartiv. A niember of L. Knapp 's in-': crcasing team of jumpers, Bpear Light will be niaking her first public appear ance as a liurdler on Baturday and, being wcll-seasoiied, niay be capable of a forward sliowing in this weak field. The veteran Peach King has not been long up after a spell, but L. Wilsou has him looking in great order, and he would oniy require to remain souud to 2)rove that he is not yet a spent force. The successful liglitvveight horseman, W. L. Aitken, is now attaclied to L. Knapp 's stable and ampng his engagenients on Saturday are Bay Robe, Bonliill, Rink, Rosswood aud Beau Son. Other riding engagemeiits announced are: R. Satuiders, Dutch Alary, Emerge; A. G. Waddell, Tula; Al. Andrews, Lady Preniier, Epping; W. Carter, Peacli Njng; W. J. Mudford, Ceremonious, Trfbute; A. C. Alesservy, Royal Victor, Priiiv':e Pox, Tuis. The Waikato lightweight C. B. Goulsbro iyill also be riding at the meeting.
