Fliglit has now won £23,374 in stake moixev, and by her latest success she passed Desert Gold 's stake-Avinniug record of £22,1S3. The Sydney mare, aa-1io cost only GOgns. as a yearling, may be retired after the autumn carnival in Sydney, and it is quite on tlie eards that she will pass Tranquil Star's stakeva'inning record before going to the stud. It was the first time in six years' that Tranquil Star had failed to gain a place in the C. M. Lloyd Stakes. She has won the big Aveight-for-age race three times. I11 1944 she was beaten only by a he'ad by Lawrence, and in 1941 she was third to the great New Zealander High Caste and Zonda.
