BIG CUT IN U.S. NAVY'S BUDGET

Received Wednesday, 1.15 p.m. WASHINGTQN, March 19. Admiral Nimitz told the House Naval Committee that the proposed 2,100,000,000 doD lars cut in the Navy Budget would "jeopardise the influence of Qur nation in world affairs and the defence of our homeland." The Budget Bureau reduced the Navy »Department's requested appropriation from 6,325 to 4;225 niillion dollars. Admiral Nimitz told the committee that if an emergency arose it would take at least six months to restore the Navy's 1945 ffghting strength.
