Bathing Tragedy A youth was drowned at Wail^puaiti beach on Sunday afternoon. He was William Birrel Paterson, aged 17* . Paterson, who was a member of"a party from the Methodist Cen'tral Mission, attempted "to reseue two girl bathers who were in difficulties. They were rescued by another man. Paterson, who was not a good swimmer, was seen- to be in trouble. He • was brought- ashore within a quarter of an hour, biit was dead.
