THE AMAZING MR. ROOKLYN
Apropos of the performance of this internationaily known artist we quote the Christchurch Star-Sun of 28/1/46: "The Amazing Mr. Rooklyn mystifled a capacity house on Saturday evening. He compares more than favourably with other magicians who have visited New Zeaiand, inasmuch as nearly all his iilusions, were introduced with a song scena and a nimble footed ballet of ten. The staging and frocking was excellent. Many women in the audience admired the long silk stockings of the ballet, and wondered where such fine hosiery could be obtained. One of Mr. Rooklyn's most spectacular acts.is the illusion — very realistic — of sawmg through a lady without the aid of a box or covering of any kind. He was well supported by a strong company of vaudeville acts, all of whom were exceedingiy well received." The season, whicn is for one night only, will be to-night at the Regent Theatre and box plans are now open.
