AUCKLAND, March 17. Exemption from taxation for those wlio gave lielp in the home, as an oft'set to legislation which is tending to attract labour from domestic service to industry, was promised bv the Leader of the Opposition (Air. H. G. liollaiidj in an address to a meeting organised by the women 's section of the Auckland branch of the National Party. Mr. Hollaud said that he had been to hospitals in Auckland that day that had not had their floors swept because of Jack of labour. An ellort would be made to lessen the burden of the housewife, already liarassed by the shorter shopping week, by intensilication of the home'help service started by the Women 's Division of the Parmers ' Uuion. v In its policy of prevention' of sickness the National Party proposed to start in the scliools with two eoinpulsory exaininatious each year, oue of which would include an X-ray, said Air. lloilaiid. Provision would be made ior any children showing defects to have tlie advantage of such treatment at marked reifledial carups established by the Army during the war.
