WELLINGTON, March 18. Operations on 'tlie chain oi' radar'stations installeil bv the R.N.Z.A.F. along Ihe New Zealand coast early in 1942 have ceased. This inforraation was given by the Minister oi Defence (Hon. F. Jones) in response to an inquiry concerning tlie future oi the radar station at Aranga, about 30 tniles from Dargaville, which was one of these units. The Minister said that since the end of the war in the Pacific and the withd rawai of our forces from that area, there had been insufficient air traffic to warrant the continued operation of these radar units and they had been placed on a care and maintenance basis nending a decision on their peacetinie role.
