TUESDAY—ONE NIGHT ONLY
Quite a controversy has arisen as to the nationality of this world travelled performer, but the fact that he was born in London, oi Russian parentage, and actually started his magieal tricks at the age of thirteen. Although only fbrty years of age now, he has been perjforming his illusions for the past eighteen years throughout the British Isles, Eire, Africa, America and now New Zealand. " - He was specially engaged to teach Gracie Fields all those magieal tricks that she performed in the film "Shipyard Sally," and during her recent tour of Australia they were constant visitors to each other's homes. Of the real English type, he opines that the placidity of New Zealand and its people remind him so much of home. His seasons at the Tivoli Theatre, both in Sydney-, Melbourne and Adelaide, had to be extended, and it is reported that, qn the occasion of his third performance in Wellington the whole theatre was sold out, with the exception of the gallery.
