WEEDS AND CONVULVUS
"OBSERVER."
Sir, — I notice where recently one of the ratepayers in Waerenga Road, had occasion to protest to the Otaki Borough Council for the dumping by them of material from the streets, which contained weeds and . convulvus, into a depresSion (■ near the ratepayer's section in that locality. This dumping of street material containing weeds and convulvus in various places about the borough has been going on for some considerable time. It is no wonder that the convulvus is spreading rapidly in the borough. The same thing is going on at Tasman Beach, near the camp site. The Council has been dupiping weeds and clippings there to stop sand -drift. This latter has been brought about by them doing work there at the wrong time of the year, when the sand was dry and prone to drift with every wind that blew. Filling is certainly required at the camping site, but not weeds "and street clippings. Why cannot the Council use the logical material for the work, viz,, rotten rock or clay with shingle on ton? — Yours. ete..
