PRAYER
We beseech Thee, O God, to grant us' grace and understanding nghtly to read the signs of our times; and when we groan for the disaster that has fallen upon the world, check our readiness to justify ourselves. Thou art the God who rulest in righteousness, and our ways are judged by Thy laws. Light has come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light, and for this we stand condemmed before Thee. Help us to see and acknowledge our responsibility according to the greatness of our priviiege. Have mercy on us, O God, for we have not known the things which belong unto our peace. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have not walked in the way of Thy commandment. We have not loved our neighbour as ourselves. Help us to perceive and meekly to accept Thy judgments that we may be purged of our faults. Renew our vision of Thy truth and turn our hearts with fuller purpose unto righteousness. O Lord our God, write Thy laws in our hearts, and ' enlarge Thy spirit within us that our lives Inay courageouslv witness ; to Thy faithfuiness and show fortn the excelience of Thy working, who art our Hope and our Salvation. Amen.
