WIVES LURED FROM HOMES

—Press Association

SUPERFICIAL GLAMOUR OF CITIES

By Telegraph-

GREYMOUTH, March 15. The large numher of wives who are leaving their homes for the superficial glamour of the cities was the suhject of coniment hy Mr. Justice Fair when considering in the Supreme Court the numher of applications hy hushands for restitution of conjugal rights. ' ' This seems to ^he another case where the wife prefers the bubhle of - etfervescent pleasure and the attraction of great cities more than the lasting happiness that is the prospect with a good. husband," he commented during the hearing of one application. ' ' She is willing for this to f orego the prospect of making a place with her husband in. the community and raising a family. This is the type of case unfortunately that has been coming more frequently before the Court in recent years, and on the evidence the erring partner seerns to be the wife attracted by the glamour, independence and wages she is free to spend on herself and a superficial appearance of freedom and independence. "That freedom and independence only mean freedom from the responsibility of those things in life that have a real appeal — a happy home and children and a place in the community. The judgment of these women ls shallow and very often mistaken."
