Oificiais at Rabaul have accepted the hospital ship's captain 's explanation that he misunderstood his orders when he sailed without permission yesterday. An Australian who went helow the decks of the Yoizuki before she sailed from Rabaul said she was a vile vessel and smelt like a sewer. "No white man could live in her for 24 hours without getting very sick, ' ' he said. "Inside she is dark as a dungeon and has only a minimum of portholes." The hospital ship is a floating palace in comparison. She has white linen and a staff of 63 nurses and 28 doctors.
