• — SHANNON AND DISTRICT Mr. J. D. Campbell, the secretary and treasurer of the Shannon and District Patriotic Committee, has supplied the following information with regard to the amounts raised by the local patriotic committee, which includes Opiki and Tokomaru. The amount of the patriotic fund quota is given in parenthesis : 1940-41: Shannon, £1749-16-7 (£15001 ; Tokomaru, £699-1-4 (£5601; Opiki, £448-16-10 (£4401. Total for the year, £2897-14-9 (£2500) . 1941-42: Shannon, £422-10-9 (£820) ; • Tokomaru, £370-0-0 (£325) ; Opiki, £295-19/- (£325). Total for the year, £1088-9-9 (£1470) . 1942-43: Shannon, £1274-8-2 (£945); Tokomaru, £273-0-0 (£445); Opiki, £342-10-10 (£500). Total for the year, £1890-0-0 (£1890). 1943-44: Shannon, £850-0-0 (£800) ; Tokomaru, £348-14/-(£300); Opiki, £341-10-6 (£350). Total for the year £1540-4-6 (£1573) . 1944-45: Shannon, £251-10-11 (£575) ; Tokomaru, £325 (£275) ; Opiki, £292-16/- (£300). Total for the year, £869-15-11 (£1306). The total figures for the five years were: Shannon, £4548-6-5; Tokomaru, £2015-15-4; Opiki, £1721-14-2. Total for the district, £8285-15-11. The following is a list of articles made by the women of Shannon, Tokomaru and Opiki from June, 1940, to January, 1946:— Hussifs: Filled 53, unfLlled 95; sox: 77 pairs; mittens: '516 pairs; gioves, 15. pairs; trench gioves: 14 pairs; pullovers: 24; balaclavas: 451; scarves: 424; Clanwells: 2; • making a total of 1671 articles. In aadition 2504 'unaddressed parcels were packed.
