THEIOLYN DOES BEST A probable candidate for Trontham next Saturday, Theiolyn was seen to advantage over seven furlongs. at Awa".puni yesterday morning. As the majoritv of the horses who raeed last Saturday did not return home, there was uot a great deal of intercstiiig work. The course proper, with the pegs out 80 feet, was available for gallopiiig, the going being in perfect order. Red Glare came home the last three furlongs of his work in 42see. 'He looks in splendid order to commence a pre paration for the juiuping season. The two-year-olds Emerge and Lady Oratory covered an easy three furlongs iu eveu time. Kanui te 1'ai and Bonlull were associated over five furlongs in 1.9 4-5. Despite his 12 years, the fonuer looks remarkably well and may still be a force to be reckoued with this winter.

Theiolyn gives tlie impression of being a better horse now than formorly, and he may go to Trentham to coulest the Hutt Handicap 011 Saturday. Tula and Gardane were well uiatched over seven furlongs in 1.36 3-5. The latter is boolced to race at Stratford next Saturday. The promising two-year-old Volthic was hard held to run five in 1.8. She appears to have lightened up a little after her hard raee in the Autumn Handicap, but is expected to be 011 iiand to contest the prineipal eveut at iTenthaiu next Saturday. Speed King (Reid) was schooled over four hurdles, giving a proiicient display. Utility (Waddell) vvent twice round over four fences, but she tired badly and rapped the last two very hard.
