RUGBY FOOTBALL

ATHLETIC CLUB PREPARES The annual general meeting of the Athletic Ifootball Club was hela in the bandroom recently, the president (Mr. H. Rippon) presiding. There was an attendance of 33 members and supporters, and considerable interest was taken in the proceedings. The report and bal-ance-sheet was presented, showmg the club to be in a strong financial position, £38 being the proflt on last flrpnr's wnrkina.

The foliowing were- elected ofiicers for the year. — Patron: Mr. C. Larsen; president: Mr. H. Rippon; vicepresidents: Messrs. A. Bonne-r, -J. Frew, J. Stanley, J. A. Goodwm, W. G. Clark, Geo. Clark, R. J. Thurston, G. E. Lee, R. Palmer, G. Nicholls, R. W. McLennan, D. Marks, J. Sciascia, J. Hayfield, E. C. Ward and J. O'Connor; secretary: Mr. D. H. Sorensen ; treasurer: Mr. J. H. George; coaches: Messrs. W. Marks, W. Anderson and A. G. Galpin; club captain: Mr. A. G. Galpin; management committee: Messrs. W. Marks, H. J. Law, E. M. Morris, V. Bonner, A. Fletcher, L. Carkeek, D. Collier and J. Lomas; deiegates to H.R.F.U. : Messrs. W. Marks, W. Anderson, A. G. Galpin and A. Ramsay. , It was decided to enter semor, junior and third grade teams for the championship. The new membership fee was fixed at 10s for junior and senior, and 2s 6d for third grade players. It is hoped to equip teams with blue and black jerseys, and white pants and socks. To assist the club, trophies were presented for . competition by Messrs. C. Larsen and Williams. As a mark of respect to members and "supporters who had passed away since the last meetings those present stood for a moment in silence. 1 At a later meeting of the management committee it was decided that practises would gtart on Tuesday, March 19, on the Levin Domain at 7 p.m., and thereafter on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.
