REP. GAME IN LEVIN
WELLINGTON BEAT MANAWATU Favoured with a perfect day, the representative match between the , intermediate (under 21 years) teams of the Manawatu and Wellington Lawn Tennis Associations, played at Levin on Saturday, was an outstanding fixture. The teams arrived during the morning and singles were played first to the standar^l length of 3 -set rubbers. As time was found to be running short, the doubles were reduced to a single set of nine up advantage. The match was a most interesting one and produced some really good tennis. The Wellington team emerged the winners by 15 rubbers to nine, 24 sets to 17 and 245 games to 229. , A feature of the day was the hospitality provided for the visiting teams by the Levin Club, and which was favourably commented upon by the members of both teams. At the conelusion of play both teams gathered for tea in the clubhouse. Mr. N. V. Farrant, manager of the Wellington team, , took this opportunity to voice the appreciation of i his association for the hospitality which had been accorded them. He said that it had been a most pleas- | ant match," and he hoped to see the ! Manawatu teams return their visit jnext year. On behalf of the Manawatu Assoi ciation, Dr. S. J. Thompson said Ithat his team had looked forward Ito the match with pleasurable ! anticipation, and all their hopes 'had been fulfilled.
