REGENT THEATRE

TO-DAY AND TO-MORKOW One of the most eolourful aclventure romances to come out of Hollywood in a long time, will blaze across the screen of the Regent ' Theatre to-day and to-morrow, j when Universal's "Sudan" bow | into town. Filmed in technicolour, | with the intriguing locale obvious in I the title, "Sudan" co-stars Maria Montez, Jon Hall and Turhan Bey, and features an excellent support- ! ing cast including Andy Devine, George Zucco, George Lynn, Robert Warwick, Harry Cording. Based on an original screen play by Edmund L. Hartmann, this Paul Malvern production tells the story of Naila, spirited daughter of the King of Khemmis, who is found mysteriously murdered at the picture's opening. Naila mounts her father's throne, but the royal chamberlain plots to acquire it for himself. "Sudan" is pure escapist entertainment. ' It is filled with suspenseful adventure and piQturesque romande. The three principals are fine in their respeetive roles. . Miss Montez, photogenic enough in black and white, but breath-takingly beautifu! in technicolour, is perfectly cast as the young queen, and Hall and Bey as her dashing cavaliers are just right, too. George Zucco is excellent in the role of treacherous chamberlain. The picture, which was directed by John Rawlins, also boasts a couple of rousing songs rendered by a mixed chorus of excellent voices. Be wise and book early for this mid-week attraction.
