NEW ELECTRIC LIGHT
SECRET WAR INVENTION Received Monday 8.20 p.m. NEW YORK, March 11. The Western Union Telegraph Company disclosed a secret war invention— a new electric light with a flaine smaller than a pinpoint, but several times brighter than a tungsten filament. Its war uses are still secret, but its peacetiine appliv.tions perinit tnings former ly considered impossilile with raiy kind of lamp. The new light, without the use of a lens, wiil project a picture on a screen flve to ten times brighter than thc avcrage light. It has othcr uses 111 pliotography and in the developing of photogriiphs and also permits greater magniiieation with microscopes, because it gives sharper definition. It shines in oue diroction in a fan-shaped beam, but wit.li Ihe beam mostly concentrated.
