The hostesses were thanked and a pleasant afternoon ciosed with the singing of the National Anthem. • - Much sympathy is felt for Mrs. T. E. Platts and famiiy in the loss of her husband and parlner. The Rev. Rickells, vicar of St. Paul's Church, Paraparaumu, conducted the funeral, which was a large Oxic. There were many beautif ui floral tributes. Mrs. Ruff, daughter of the late Mr. Platts, is on the teaching staff of the Paraparaumu Primary School. The sports held in the Domain by the amateur sports society were favoured with perfect weather and were well attended. The potato crops in this district are particularly good this year. One resident dug one root of potatoes which yielded five large potatoes, weighing 11b. llozs. each. The average crop is about half a pound in weight. An onion weighed 11b. 2ozs.
