TANKER "IN DISTRESS"

Reeeived Sunday 7.5 p.m. NEW YORK, March 10. The tanker Puente Hilis, towing the after-section of the Russian tanker Don bass, radioed a distress signal: "A woman aboard is going to have a baby Please, somebody, do something," re ports the Seattle correspondent of the Associated Press. A coastguard p.atrol vessel with a doctor was racing to the tanker, which was 1200 miles west of Seattle, when the tanker sent another radio:,l'It's a girl. Mother and bahy are reported to be doing fine." An eariier message saicl the pharmacist's mate aboard the tanker was re'ady to play the obstetrician, aided by radioed instructions.
