After an illness of a few days Brigadier Percy Atherford of the Salvatiqn Army, has. died in Weinngcon. Brigaaier Atheriord became an ohicer lrom Hascmgs in 1914 ana served in many sections of Salvacion Army Work. For some years he was. engaged in trainmg Baivation Army oflicers; later he- was Divisional Commander for the Southern (Dunedin) Divisiom Foi ihe past four years he had been the Salvation Army's trade sebretary and publisher. No man had devoted more to education than Mr. W. V. Dyer, whose retirement from the position oi chairman of the Wellington Education Board was to be regretted. said Mr. W. Appleton at the meeting of the Wellington Technical Collegc Board of Managers last week. Mr. Dyer had al'ways taken an active part in the welfare of the Technicai ^oxiege, said Mi. Appleton. He moved that his services to education over a long period of years be placed on record. He congratulated . Mr. N. R. Seddon, who had also given .nuch time to education, on being uppointed in Mr. Dyers piace. Otn >i members having spoken, the mowon was carried with one dissentient, Colonel T. W. McDonald.
