WELLINGTON, Marcii . Announcing the rcvoeation of the Serap Rubber Control Notice, 1942, the Minister of Supply and Munitions (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) paid a tribute to the serviee rendered to the war effort of' New Zealaud by the National Coun-c-il for the Reclamation of Waste Materiai. The Serap Rubber Con oroi Xotice prohibited the use of or destruclion of serap rubber, said Mr. Sullivan. and measures- were taken to institute a national drive for the eollection of serap rubber. In this work the National Council did a splendid job and inaiiy tliousands of tons of rubber were snlvaged and made available to the manufacturers to reclaiin. "While it is now possible to revoke the Serap Rubber Control Notice," said Mr. Sullivan, "it does not follow that serap rubber, especially in the forni of inotor tvres, should again be dcstroyed The rubber manufacturers throughoul Xew Zealand now have their own organisation for the eollection of worn .,ut molor tyres and everv worn-out tyro made available for reclaiin is a real eontribution to the industrial resourees of the eountry." The Minister also atuiounced ' ;the rcvoeation of the Kapoc Control Xotiee, 1942, and the Plating Control Xoliee, 1942. The Minister said: "With the liberation of the East indies, it is antiei pated that in the near future supplies of .Java kapoc will agaiu be available and it is now indicated that the reserve stoeks of kapoc previously lield agamst Serviee deiuands can, after making aderpiate provision for hospital require ments, be released for nornial civilian use. "Since the eessation of hostilities in Europe and the gradual resunrptiou of nornial production, the Eactory Controller has endeavoured to assist inanufac turers by extcnding the list of pcrmitted uses for plating niaterials, anu it is now felt that, in vievv of the reasonably satisfaetory stock position, the fcvv remaining restrictions upon the use of plating salts under the Control Xotice niav be lifted."
