An all-time record was establislied at the Newmarket saies wlien 80 yearlings were sold for, 78,175 guineas. The average of 977 guineas beat the previous record made on the first day oi last year 's saies, when 77 lots averaged 904 guineas. Top price of 3100 guineas was paid by Sydney trainer R. H. Abbott for a colt liy Law Maker from VVottara.- A colt by HellespOnt from Mirambeck. and a filly by Hellespont from Comedy Wind, both* l^rought 2200 guineas.
