MARKET REPORT
Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce raerchants, Wellington, report that supplies of stone fruits to hand have still been far from adequate, and consequently ceiling . prices wherever operative have been maintained, other varieties being placed to advantage. Grapes, mushrooms, cape gooseberries and quinces have also been sought, whilst an improvement has been shown for passion fruit. Flower saies, in spite of increased quantities coming to hand, have commanded keen attention. Most varieties of vegetables have also been sought, cabbages, cauliflotfwers kumeras and marrows all being placed to advantage. Good quality peas and beans have also been selling readily, whilst supplies of pumpkins have been inadequate. Poultry yardings continue about. the same as last report, prices for all prime birds being readily maintained. Quotations are: — Apricots (according to quality), 8/-, 18/-; peaches, .12/2; greengages, 11/-, 25/-; nectarines,- 7/-, 24/- A-case; Meyer lemons, raspberries, grapefruit, ceiling prices; .-mushrooms, 6/2 lb.; blackberries, 8d, 1/3; grapes, 1/6, 2/11; cape gooseberries, 1/6 lb; tomatoes (best), ceiling, (others), 5/-, 10/-; passion fruit, 12/-, 22/-{-case; beans, (according to variety), 3d, 1/1 lb; peas, 2d, 8d lb; cabbage, pumpkins, kumeras, parsnips, swedes, ceiling, ready sale; cauliflowers, 20/-, 32/- sack; celery, 10/-, 18/-; lettuce, 5/-, 15/-; marrows, 12/-, 15/-; rhubarb, 5/-, 9/-; spinach, 12/-, 17/- case. Hens (heavy) , 5/-, 9/-, {light) , 3/-, 5/-; roosters, 3/-, 6/-; coekerels (according to weight), 2/6, 11/-; pullets (best), 10/-, 15/-, (others), 3/6, 7/6;. ducks (young), 6/-, 9/6, (old) , 3/-, 6/-.
