WELLINGTON, March 7. ! The president of the New Zeaiand Manufacturers' Association, Mr. D. I. MacDonald, asked to-day for- his opinion on the statement by the national secretary of the Federation of Labour, Mr. K. Baxter, said nothing was to be said by his Federation until it wTas discussed at the Timaru conference, to be neid for three days from March 12. Mr. Baxter's statement was one in which he said his Federation eondemned the action taken by one or two employers in the clothing industry of offering workers a 36houi week -for a 40-hour week's p&y jii order to obtain labour.
