Colourful Floral Exhibition
SHANNON DAHLIA SHOW SUCCESSFUL EFFORT Held under the auspices of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, a very successful and wellautenaed dahna snow was scagea m che Druids' Hall on Saturday. Desplte the long penod oi very ary weather the blooms were of a high srandard and came from Levin, uoaxi, Koputaroa, opiki and Kairanga, as well as Shannon. The Cic^orative section was es,peciaiiy noticeable for not only was it larger, but the work showed a marked im'provement over the exhibits of previous years. The baby show created interest, as also did the display of floral work by Mrs. C.' Guerin. Buckley members of the W.D.F.U. were responsible for the arrangements for cold lunch, afternoon tea and supper. Mrs. J. A. Easton presented the prizes in the evening, congratulating the winners on their exhibits and thanking all those who had helped to make the show such a success. The silver cup for most points in the show, to be won three times in succession or five times at intervals, was won by Mrs. C. R. Hunt, Kairanga, Mrs. C. C. Cheesman, Levin, being runner-up. The Hyde Memorial cup f'or most points in the decorative section, to be won three times in succession or five times at intervals, was won by Miss Barrie, Opiki. Mrs. Macaulay was runnerup. The champion bloom (dahlia) went to Mrs. J. Bowker. Points prizes were won by: — Mr. J. Kilmister, giant decorative dahlias; Mrs. Robinson (Opiki), medium decorative dahlias; Mr. N. J. Barrie (Levin), novice; Mrs. J. Aitchison (Opiki), gladioli; Mrs. C. R. Hunt (Kairanga), miscellaneous; Miss Catherine Stern, children 1014 years; Miss Shirley Percy (Opiki), children under 10 years; Mr, A. Storey, vegetables; Mrs. C.
