The largest cricket crowd which had previousiy been seen at Eden I'ark was on April 1, 1933, 011 the second day -oi ihe second test match between Englaml aud New Zealand, when W. R. Ilam mond made 33(5 not out. The takings on this day were atiout £800, realise-l froni slightly lower cliaiges than have been made for thc present match, and the attendance was -estimated ai 17,000. Thc * president of. the Auckland Cricket Association, Mr. W. R. Fce, said yesterday tliat the takings for the Iirst two tlays are expected to reaeh £2700, as the school children 's receipts have not been included in the totals published.
