LEVIN TAKES THE LEAD ! OLD BOYS WIN AGAIN t ' i r' . The third round of the Hall ( k Shield cricket competition was com\pleted on Saturday and Levin by ! beating Otaki take the lead on thg points table, which Otaki had held for several weeks. Old Boys secured another win, this time at the expense of Shannon, while College suffered a sound defeat at the hands of Weraroa. The points table j now reads: Levin 71, Otaki 67, Col- 1 lege and Weraroa 32 each, Shannon 25 and Old Boys 21. An Eight-Point Win Old Boys gained an eight-point win over Shannon, when playing 011 the Levin Domain. Old Boys had first use of the wicket and ran up a total of 106, Lancaster (29), Sciascia (22) and Newson (11) not out being the main contributors. Harris took five wickets for 21. Shannon j replied with the poor total of 32, McDowall being the only player to reach double figures with 12. Lynch took five wickets for 12 runs and Stevens five for 18. Shannon's second innings realised 62, Moore bat- ; ting in better form to make 29 not out. Lynch took another five ■ wickets at low cost.
